Maybe it's a boy...?

We took an at-home gender test this morning (it's HARD waiting to find out)! It's about 85% accurate so we're not running out to buy blue clothing but just sort of fun to do :)

Had a great weekend in Minnesota celebrating Jesse and Ida's wedding. It was a wonderful celebration and am so happy for them both. What a beautiful pair. It was great to see our family and share the news! Everyone was so excited and supportive. Felt a ton of love!

Normal has never sounded so good...

We received a phone call regarding our lab results from last weeks screening and we are all in the clear! Baby is looking healthy and within the "normal" range...meaning the nugget is not at risk for Down syndrome or any other chromosomal defects. Woot woot! Yay nugget! Grow baby grow! I've been feeling much better as I near the 2nd trimester (on Friday). Less sleepy every day but still a little afternoon sickness. The baby is the size of a peach this week!

Chillin'

This morning we had our first genetic-screening and we'll get the results back within 7 days.

The most amazing part of the appointment was actually seeing the little nugget! Little one looks like a baby now (not simply a mass of cells) and we actually saw little arms and legs moving! Jeff and I could hardly talk let alone breathe. We sat there, squeezing each others hands with our mouths agape! I swear, they were the sweetest little feet I've ever seen. Absolutely phenomenal. It's so crazy to compare the ultra-sound picture from 6 weeks to the one today (11 weeks 5 days). A lot of growth has been going on! I love in the pic how the nugget looks totally relaxed, like laying in a hammock, feet up :)

First Trimester Summary

So far, the first trimester has been going pretty well. I have suffered from some pretty evil morning sickness (that has lasted all day). It seems to be getting better, with the nausea only coming on in the afternoon/evening. I have also been amazingly exhausted. For an insomniac like myself, it's quite bizarre to take naps and go to bed at 9:30! But, I'm listening to my body and not fighting it, not that I have a chance against this sleepiness. No crazy cravings yet but am being very flexible with my vegan diet. If I want cheese, I eat it...same goes for most other things (eg. fish, eggs). Again, just trying to listen to what my body's sayin'.

On Monday, March 8th, we were able to hear the little niblet's heartbeat! It was loud, strong, and perfect. Jeff and I were both left speechless and the reality of having a baby was more evident. We have our first ultrasound on Monday, March 15th for genetic screening. I'm a little nervous but so excited to see the little arms and legs moving! Crazy!

Included is a picture of the little nugget at 6 weeks. Just a teeny-tiny little thing!

Welcome to the Baby Blog!

Welcome! Well, we're pregnant! In January, Jeff and I discovered we were expecting and it has been so difficult to keep it a secret ever since. I've been patiently waiting for this first trimester to end so I could finally let the news be told! The due date for the nugget is September 28, 2010 and we are absolutely beyond excited. The picture above was taken just a few minutes after we found out we were expecting :)

After having a great example from my dear friend Megan, I decided to blog about this process. Considering all of my family, and most of my friends, are not living in Atlanta, I thought this would be the easiest way to keep everyone updated and included in this journey. I love checking Megan's website out (as she lives in LA) and have felt I've been along side her every step of the way! So thanks Megan, for pushing me to do this, and for sharing your story with me :)
