He has more words all the time and attempts new sounds every day. Currently he has the following words: Hello (all-ow), Water (wah-wah), Bottle (bah-bah), Mama, Dada, Bye-Bye, Dog, Up (Bah), Nana, Gampa, Gamma, More (Moe), All Done (Ah-done), No (meh), Night-Night (Nigh-Nigh), Strawberry (straw-bah-bah), Big (Bi), Small (mole), Yes (uh-huh), No (nuh-uh)...and I'm sure more but that's all I can remember right now.
I can't remember if I wrote about this earlier or not but Jeff gave Fintan his first haircut a few months ago. Jeff remembers his dad cutting his hair growing up and wanted to be the first to cut Fin's hair. It's already grown back now! His head of hair is thickening up.
Fintan is a total water-baby. We have a pool in the backyard that Jeff, Fin, and I can all fit in. We fill it up in the am, the sun heats up the water, and try to hold Finny at bay until the afternoon. He just yells "Wah-Wah-Wah-Wah-Wah" ALL the time until he finally gets to play in it. We were north for the fourth of July and he was in the lake the entire time.
His personality is still super awesome. He is very sweet and cuddly and crazy and wild. He is incredibly adventurous and a total climber. He scales the neighbor's fence with complete ease and without fear...actually, when he's being daring, he is always grinning and giggling. He's a tough guy to discipline because of it! He'll be doing something dangerous, Jeff and I will say "Not for Fintan" or "Danger!" and he giggles and does it more. Yikes. I often ask him, "Nuggy, are you a crazy person?" and he always answer, "Uh-huh." We think we're going to try the ignore the behavior route and see if that works. The distract tactic is usually pretty effective.
Nuggy loves reading! He pulls books off his shelves and brings them to me or Jeff and plops in our laps...over and over again. I just asked Jeff what else Finny is into and he said, "His Mama." Haha.
Other recent Nuggy news is that last Wednesday, while we were up visiting my mom, he started climbing out of the crib. We had noticed Monday and Tuesday that he was going through a growth spurt (tons of sleeping and eating) and he now is tall enough to climb out. A few thuds and thumps later, back in St Anthony, we were dismantling his crib. OY VEY! Mama and Dada were a bit weepy about it. How on earth is he too large for a crib?! I'm making a confused/frowny face at how quickly the time has flown by. He slept Saturday night on his crib mattress on the floor. He went to bed after about 30 minutes of wandering around which, we watched on the monitor. Finny woke up once in the middle of the night crying but I walked in and laid him down and he went to sleep right away. On Sunday, our lovely friends Betsey and Jhon gave us a twin bed frame they had in their attic! It is a BEAUTIFUL bed and we're so thankful to have it. We set it up and Nuggy had no problem climbing in and out of the bed. That evening we put him to bed and brought the video monitor outside during a BBQ we were having. Most of crowded around the monitor and watched Fin climb in and out of the bed, stand in the window, lay down, stand up, lay down....lay down...still laying down...sleep. No crying, only took about 15 minutes, and he was asleep in his own big bed. So proud of that guy to be such a good sleeper and team player.
Recently, Finny has also been very vocal when he goes poo in his diaper and when he's about to go pee. On Sunday, after Nuggy woke up from his nap, I went to change his diaper. He kept shaking his head and saying "Nuh-uh" when I tried to put another diaper on him. I asked him if he wanted to go to the potty and he said "Uh-Huh." I brought him to the bathroom, sat him on the toilet, and he went to the bathroom! WHAT THE?! Super crazy, awesome dude. In hindsight, Jeff and I realized that he tried to do the same thing on Saturday. What a little dude. Too. Fast.
Alright. WIll try to keep updating this summer...no promises though. I'm loving my time outside, playing squash, and obviously playing with Nuggy, Jeff, and the pups.
Jeff and I have had Friday night date nights for the last few weeks. We're playing in a mixed doubles tournament (which is a BLAST!) and then we head out for dinner just the two of us. Jeff is a great partner on and off the court. Very supportive and always having fun. Good. Stuff.
