Week in Review

We attended our breastfeeding class on Wednesday night. It was SUPER helpful and Jeff and I both felt we learned a ton. I feel so much more confident now about what I'm doing, when, how much, etc. Really glad we took the class (Thanks to our neighbor, CC, for recommending taking a class :). It really is a learned skill and unique to every woman so learning about many different techniques and tricks was really helpful.

Last night we had a labor and delivery class at my yoga studio. We both learned some good techniques as far as different positions to try during labor and Jeff saw his role more clearly defined (which is a HUGE role and he'll be great at-such a good support person!). We both felt that the class was too long (4.5 hours) and the instructor was self-indulgent. Class could have been about 1.5 hours-overall, a good experience, but the utility to time required ratio was way off.

Today, Jeff and I are going to watch some members from his club play in a squash tournament, make an Ikea run, and clean the casa. I'm making a delicious bean/veggie dip (called texas caviar, thanks Dee!) and then tomorrow we're having the neighbors over for lamb and shrimp tandoori. Yum yum!

Hope ya'll are having a great weekend!

35/35...tomorrow

Tomorrow I'll be 35 weeks pregnant with only 35 days left to go until my due date. Jeff and I spent the weekend getting organized, doing laundry (which is SO nice to finally have in our house), cooking, packing our hospital bag, and going on walks.

Had a good doctors appointment on Friday-nothing new to report. Still doing well, the little guy is still moving a lot. The doc estimated that the little mister would be around 8-9 lbs (why or how he guessed that? no idea...so, I'm not taking it too seriously) and he also guessed an October 3rd delivery. Again, why? no reason, just a guess. Haha.

We have a breastfeeding class on Wednesday evening and then a labor and delivery class on Friday evening. Friday's class is at the studio where I take yoga so more of a relaxation class combined with labor positions-really more means for Jeff and I to gain more exposure to the labor process and to learn more ways to work together.

Also, here are some updated photos of the finished nursery!

Christmas in Aug!

The amazing Stephen's family gave us so many great hand-me-downs from their two boys today! Seriously, hand-me-downs are AWESOME and we are so grateful they thought of us!! Toys, books, dishes, clothing, baby gates, hooded robes and towels, shoes, oh my!

We discovered that Diego is quite the scared-y cat. The toys we received royally freaked him out and he cowered next to either myself or Jeff when we wound them up or turned them on:(...pretty funny though really. Haha.

34 Weeks

We've reached the 34th week and my belly is growing rapidly-as I mentioned before, the little guy gains about half a pound per week from here on out so my growth is apparent every day. I've been feeling well (still having sleeping issues) and since I've gone over four weeks without contractions, I've upped my workout schedule again. Aaah, it feels so good to get back in the pool and secretly race people in adjacent lanes :) My brain feels good too!

The air outside is still brutal so in order to keep my asthma and allergies in check, Jeff and I bought a stationary bike. It's been awesome to be able to hop on the bike and put in a quick 30 minutes. We also figured that down the road it'll be good to get some cardio in while the little mister naps (waay down the road :)

Have a doc appt this Friday and other than that not much is new. Just slowly but surely getting the house ready for the arrival of the nugget. We rearranged our bedroom the other day to make room for the baby's bassinet and had to move the pups' beds around too. They both are totally happy with the new arrangement and so is Jeff (as the big bear sleeps next to him now :).

Almost-33 Week Belly Pic, Dr Appt

The boy in my belly is growing bigger ever week, as my increasing belly size indicates! Insomnia is really hitting me hard these days too-between going to the bathroom every hour and the little guy kicking all hours of the night (and a little heartburn mixed in) catching the zzz's is getting tougher. Being an insomniac not pregnant, no big deal, being an insomniac while growing a baby, exhausting.

My allergies are through the roof these days as well. Had a scary night last week where my allergies set off an asthma attack and it took a loooong time to breathe normally again (about 12 hours). Everyone says Spring is the worst for allergies in the south, I'm voting late Summer/Fall. Not sure what it is, but I am a hot mess these days.

Jeff and I went to the Dr on Friday. So far, so good. I'm measuring about 1.5 weeks ahead (so closer to 35 weeks) but that's no surprise considering Jeff and I were both big babies.

Yesterday, Jeff and I (mostly Jeff because I was sick) cleaned the house and organized everything we could! Jeff has entered a nesting phase that is awesome and wild to observe! Seriously, he scrubbed all of the baseboards in the house yesterday-we're going to be so ready for this little guy. We assembled a diaper storage unit for the nursery and, as usual, Diego was right beside me 'helping' me out. We have really sensed a change in him lately, as if he has really clued in that something is about to change/happen. He's extra cuddly these days.

Jeff came home from work yesterday and found me passed out on the couch with a jumbo jar of pickles (cucumber salad). A fantastically classic picture of pregnancy!

Diego eye-ing the belly whilst being kicked in the face. Love his startled look!

Travels with Belly

We traveled to California last week to visit Jeff's mom while she recuperated from some medical issues. It was so great to see her and Jeff's brother, Jerry, along with the rest of his family. Mama K is doing well and I'm so glad we were able to go West to be with her. While west-word we also saw our dear friends The Fishers (and their new little lady, Lily) and Frank, Dawn, their kiddos, Chance and Stellan, and the rest of the LA Crew. We had a great time and were glad to have the opportunity to visit with them even if just for a brief while.

All of that being said, it's obviously so nice to get back home. We missed the pups and our home, but did not miss the heat and humidity! I'm glad to be back on my normal schedule again. I'm feeling pretty tired from last week, and all of the traveling, but fortunately from here-on out, we're not going anywhere until the mister comes.

Before we went to CA, we received our BOB jogging stroller (a gift from my Grandma Mattson). We are SO excited to have it and got it all ready for an infant with the car seat adapter, etc. Of course, we put Fidel in it to try it out :)

Health-wise I've been feeling well. As mentioned, I'm tired, but overall no major complaints. Keri is coming to Atlanta on Wednesday for a business meeting so I am so excited to be able to see her for a quick visit!
