We had our home inspection and it came back with more issues than we had hoped. We put in our request for a number of things to be fixed, willing to walk away if they weren't, but thankfully the seller agreed to all of the changes we requested! So, we really did buy a house! Crazy! The more we learn about the St Anthony neighborhood, the more excited we get.
Fin has been doing really well. He prefers to sleep on his stomach but if he wakes up and realizes he's on his stomach, he cries or whines! Gotta get this kid to figure out how to roll back over! He has been an absolute doll, per usual. Super smiley, social, cuddly, loving, good-natured. Every day I am thankful that he is so healthy and such a happy boy. He is sitting up for longer periods of time and reaching for everything he can: Jeff's glasses, cups, phones, all toys, hair! And when he gets it in his hands-straight in the mouth. Totally a drooly, happy guy. He's chatting a lot too and has really taken to blowing slobber bubbles with his lips. He also really loves playing with his toes. Every chance he gets they are either in his hands or in his mouth. So cute.
Two weeks ago he had his four month shots We spoke to the doctor about how awful it was the first time around, how Fin was all out of sorts and that the nurse had to poke him repeatedly to get the second and third shots in. He was extremely empathetic and reassured us that we'd have a different nurse (who actually ended up being my nurse from my pregnancy and I loved her). He also said that the giving vaccines are individual events and that the first time is not indicative of how Fin would behave the second time. He asked us to try one more time and if the outcome was the same that we'd address it. We decided to go ahead and the combo of our lovely Nurse Watkins and perhaps Fin being older, things went SO much better. He didn't cry nearly as hard, hardly at all, and he had a few fussy moments the following week, but NOTHING compared to the first time around. Uff-da. So glad it went well.
I had a minor procedure done on my toe yesterday, had an ingrown toenail fixed. Ouchie! Not too much fun but needed to happen; my toe was turning all sorts of strange colors and was bursting from infection (you're welcome for that image)! In a bit of pain now but am looking forward to hopefully having a solid night sleep for once (without my toe throbbing all night).
Jeff has been busy at work with tournaments and lessons. The members at his club are all SO bummed that he's leaving and as that time nears, they're all really starting to realize how much he has become a part of their lives. He receives emails constantly from the members lamenting his departure and planning how to squeeze as much time out of him as they can before he goes. Jeff has had a few conversations about jobs in Minnesota and a couple sound quite promising so he's excited about the future too.
Coming up Jeff has a couple tournaments, one here in Atlanta and one in Chicago and I'm hoping to head to northern Minnesota in March. We also plan on heading out West soon to see Jeff's parents! We miss them and can't wait for them to meet Finny. I was supposed to head to LA next week to visit Megan, Mama K, and some other friends but have not been feeling good enough to make the trek. Will head out there maybe in April but definitely in June as my dear friends Teddy and Julie are gettin' hitched in Cali. Jeff can't travel because he has no days off so June will be the time for him to see his dad and Wendy and Mama K. I know he is DYING for his parents to meet Finny. No days off drives him crazy. Until then, I'm busy planning for the move, prepping to get back into school, trying to take care of myself, and enjoying every day with Finny Bear.
Hope everyone is doing well. Much love!
