Last weekend Grandpa, Mama D, and Auntie Haley came down for a visit! Fin was ELATED! They played legos with him for hours at the kitchen table-he was so happy. Pretty great. Jeff and I had a mini-date on a friend's back deck-fun to be out just the two of us.

Dada and Mac-so snuggled up!

Auntie Haley and Mac

Auntie Haley brought a stuffed animal for Finny B-her school mascot: Blizzard the Husky. He LOVES it. Cuddles it every night. Though, after Haley left, he essentially said he wanted to trade the Husky to get Haley back. Man does he LOVE her.

The next morning, more legos. I had no idea he loved them so much! Oh, and sharing zucchini bread.

Mama D and her grandkids :) Snuggle time!

More cuddles with Blizzard

Fin is such a good helper.  We get about 2 hours together, just the two of us, which I think has been helpful in terms of adjustment. This week we went to a construction site and watched scoopers (4 of them!), luffingboom cranes, dump-trunks and more! So much fun. Other days we went to different playgrounds. Fun stuff.

Brothers.

Submitted my residency applications on Tuesday. Mac kept me company during the stressful day:)

Came downstairs the other day and Fin had build this killer train track! Dada and I were really impressed :)

Smiley little leprechaun! Look at the reddish tint to his hair!

Figuring it out

We're still finding our balance to being a family of four; making sure Fin feels included, etc and making sure Mac is getting enough attention too! Still going well overall, a few bumps here and there. Jeff is really busy at work with a big squash tournament coming up, some politics at the club, and Spotres (the online booking system). I'm busy with finalizing residency applications (due Mon!) and studying for my next board exam (Oct 13). Trying to study in am while Fin is at preschool and then in the afternoon while he naps, and in between feedings, etc. We'll figure it out... Fortunately Abby, Fin's nanny is flexible and understanding!

Mac is sleeping pretty well at night. Last night he had a 4 hour block but I didn't actually get to enjoy it... I woke up to Fin rubbing my back in the middle of the night! He was WIDE awake and just wanted to say hi! We went to his room and he was on fire. Showed me how he organized his chair and all his stuffed animals and how the shadows are so cool and...it was 2:30am! We snuggled in his bed a little bit and I fell back into a deep sleep only to wake up with him tickling my face...3 different times! I have no idea why he was so awake but I finally left at 3-something and then...time to feed Mac. Sleepy morning for Mama.

Fin can't get enough Mac:
"Oh, I just like to hold his hand"
"Where is my baby?"
"Just a little kiss for my baby brover"

Snuggle-bug.

Dada and Mac

First Bath! Loved the Tummy Tub! No crying, just totally content.

Of course, Fin "helping" with the bath.

He loves laying and touching heads with Mac. This. Kid.

"Baby Mac, do you want to rock with me?" Moves his rocking chair close to Mac, holds hands, they both rock. Melt me now.

Play-mat time.

More hugs and kisses.

2 week check-up

Well, the kid eats a lot and is evidenced by his weight gain: Up to 8 pounds 3 ounces already! Woot woot! 21 inches, head circumference: 14.25 inches.

Also, my dad told me he took me to the state fair when I was younger on a motorcycle trip! I have NO recollection at all but I was suspicious that my parents, being good Minnesotans, hadn't taken me...

Two weeks old!

Nana-Bob have been here for the last week and it's been SO helpful to have them here. Quite an adjustment going from one to two kids and having extra hands around has been awesome: cooking meals, playing with Fin, helping Mom get rest, doing laundry, burping the baby. Nervous for them to leave today but I'm sure we'll be great :)

Fin was very proud of spelling his name!

New carrier for Mac. Hands free and he LOVES it.

What 3, almost 4, year old loves balsamic and olive oil?! He's something else. Hammers it!

Well, we did it. We finally caved and went to the Minnesota State Fair. None of us had been before but it seemed like something Fin would love so we decided to make the most of it. Well, Fin's enthusiasm didn't disappoint. He was SO happy and excited! If he hadn't been there, I would've walked away with the attitude of "meh, it's a fair". But with Fin there I walked away with: That was awesome. He was so fun.

Fresh milk --> milk mustache.

Meeting Princess Kay of the Milky Way. Saw her head carved out of butter too!

Pretzel-covered cheese curds. Nom nom.

Happy.

TOO. MUCH.

Auntie Tarini was working the brain booth at the fair (notice his brain hat!). He got to see a human brain and was a little confused. Asked if it was mine...

Going on the Sky Glide Ride! This was one of Fin's favorite parts.

Tied for his favorite part of the fair: the lumberjack show! "I wuv the wumberjacks walking on wogs in the the water" :)!

His third most favorite part of the fair: Snow-Cone!

Auntie Vi was also working the fair (pediatrics booth)!

Group shot!

Mulligan Family's first trip to the fair!

Mac was an awesome fair companion. He slept the entire time, woke up twice to nurse, then back to bed! It took him 10 days to make it to the Fair, it took me 32 years!

Minnie-apple Pie with vanilla and cinnamon ice-cream. Fin and Jeff were very happy.

The Miracle of Birth Barn (yes, you watch animals give birth and can pet the newborns). Fin drove a tractor simulator-so happy!

The giant slide! Ride down on a burlap sack, it's actually much faster and steeper than I anticipated-Fin, surprise, surprise, loved it.

Pronto Pups at the Fair! Who cares if it was 9:30 in the morning :)

Happy big brother.

Sweet kisses.

This is how Fin likes to "help" Dada mow the lawn! When Dada starts mowing, he gets really sad and wants to be held. This was dad's compromise.

Snuggle time with Nana.

Busy Bob the Builder. He took on two projects while NanaBob were here: new bathroom vanity, sink, mirror, and lights and then installing cabinets in the kitchen. Fin playing the role of moral support. The bathroom looks fantastic and the kitchen has so much more space now! These projects weren't slated to be completed by Jeff and I until next summer so we're grateful to have them done so soon!

Nana cuddle time.

Mighty Mac!
